Carolyn Johnson Davis was born on June 28, 1947, in Toccoa, Georgia to the late Deacon W.B. and Deaconess Julia Tate Johnson. She was the youngest of eight children. Carolyn was preceded in death by six of her siblings; Sarah Brown, Ann Walker, Walter Johnson, Hazel Riley, Emory Johnson, and Mabel Johnson. Carolyn joined the Friendship Baptist Church in Toccoa, Georgia at an early age. She was very active within the church and loved singing in the choir.
Educated at Whitman Street School, Carolyn was active as a basketball cheerleader and “lovely alto” in the school choir. She was also a member of the Honor Society and graduated amongst the top 5 of her class in 1965. Carolyn was a great mathematician. After graduating high school, she married and had two sons, Keven and Elliot (Dale).
Carolyn worked for Coats and Clark and Shaw Industries for many years. Fortunately, she was blessed to retire at the age of 44 to become a full-time NBA mom as she was a huge sports fan. Carolyn was a lover of the lottery who won consistently. She also enjoyed bingo, cooking, music, and playing cards, but got the most joy from being surrounded by family.
Carolyn’s pride and joy were her two sons. She was also a doting grandmother. Carolyn was notorious for not sugarcoating her opinions. She was beloved by all family and friends for her colorful, outgoing, no-holds-barred personality - what you saw is what you got.
Carolyn was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory: one sister, Mrs. Mary Jo Carter of Washington, DC; sister-in-law, Joyce Johnson of Capitol Heights, MD; two sons, Keven Davis (Trenna) of Emeryville, California and Elliot (Dale) Davis of Atlanta, Georgia; ; ten grandchildren, Tiffany (Terry) Robinson, Brittany Davis, Keven Davis Jr, Kiersten Feimster-Davis, Colleen McCray, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Caida Davis, Andreya Lacy, Jazmin (Onias) Cromer, and Danielle Lacy; three great-grandchildren, a host of loving nieces, nephews, great great-nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
On Wednesday, February 8, 2023, Carolyn transitioned to eternal life reuniting with her parents and six of her siblings. Oh, what a reunion that will be!
