On Wednesday, January 17, Chanda Joyce Teasley Pierre, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, caregiver, and friend, transitioned from this life to her eternal rest while in Emory Hospital Midtown. She was sixty-six (66) years young. Born to the late Robert Lee and Louise Brown Teasley, she is the youngest of seven (7) siblings. She joined Martin Grove Baptist Church at an early age. She faithfully attended Green Forest Community Baptist Church, Decatur, Georgia. Joyce graduated from Truett McConnell College with a BA in Liberal Arts. She enjoyed family gathers and having a good time, playing games and word puzzles. She could be found helping others and carried concern for everyone and everything connected to her. She had many specialties when it came to the kitchen. She could always be counted on for the best potato salad and deviled eggs. She also loved a quiet evening with friends and good food.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Louise Teasley; brothers, Marvin Teasley, James Teasley, and Walter Teasley; and one sister, Mae Eunice Teasley.
She leaves to mourn her sons, Andre Valvenus Hunter of the home, in Lithonia, Georgia and Derron Pierre of Lithonia, Georgia. She has one granddaughter, Ariana Hunter of Gainesville, Georgia., two sisters, Annie E. Teasley of Martin, Georgia, and Ann Johnson of Toccoa, Georgia, and one sister-in-love, Betty Teasley of Toccoa, Georgia. She has a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends. She also has a special friend, Donnie Pierre. Her niece, Connie Teasley, served as a devoted caregiver in her final days.
