Mary Lou Arthur

Miss Mary Lou Arthur was born on March 27, 1943 in Toccoa, GA (Stephens Co.) to the late Robert S. T. Arthur and Pearl Allen Arthur. She was called to eternal rest on September 26, 2022 at her home after an extended illness.

She joined the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until her health declined. She was the secretary, treasurer and served on the usher board.

She retired from Toccoa Elementary School where she enjoyed taking care of the children. This is what she loved and be sure to know, she kept them in line. She loved her family dearly and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching cooking shows, CSI, doing crossword puzzles and do not bother her when the Braves were playing. A BIG NO NO! When time for the Poke Sallit Festival, she was ready to go fry fish. She was a very classy woman who was all about family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, Mrs. Willie Grace Burton, Ms. Vernell Chavers and Mrs. Carolyn Myers; three brothers, Mr. Roosevelt Arthur, Mr. J.M. Arthur and Mr. Curtis Fleming.

Left to honor her memories are three children, Mrs. Deborah Gholston (Larry) of Toccoa, GA, Mr. Daniel Arthur of Toccoa, GA and Mrs. Karen Mangrum (Clyde) of Virginia Beach, VA. Four grandchildren Mr. Christopher Arthur (Zenaida), Miss Larissa Gholston, Mr. Seth Gholston (Kendall) and Mr. Joshua Arthur. Five Great-grandchildren, Treyvon Yabarra, Carmen Arthur, Charlize Arthur, Cooper Gholston and Liam Gholston. One brother, Mr. J.T. Arthur, Toccoa, GA (TNC). Two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Betty Arthur and Mrs. Glenda Arthur Fleming. Mrs. Pearl Satawhite and Mrs. Rosalie Ferguson were her life long friends. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
