Mary J. Hester was born in Toccoa (StephensCounty),GA, July 20,1951, to the late RobertGlenn Johnson and Beulah Lee Johnson. She graduated from Toccoa High School in 1970. Mary joined TrinityC.M.E.Church at a young age. She served as a stewardess, choir member, and a seamstress for many. She also loved playing playing softball as a short stop and a fan of the SEC Women's Basketball tournament. She was loyal, valuable, trusted employee forWalmartfor 20 plus years, greeting every customer with a smile. Mary also employed byVermont American for 30 years. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2021. God called her to rest December 30, 2024, she fought a good fight to the very end.
Mary was preceded in death by six brothers, Howard Johnson, John Henry Johnson, Eugene Johnson,William Roy Johnson,Willard Johnson, James L. Brown, and a sister, Faith Lorene Levitt.
Left to cherish her memory, her two children, Antoinette J. Hayes and Serrante (Cassandra) Hester; a sister, Nancy Johnson; a brother, Leon Johnson; eight grandchildren, KeOntrae Knight, Jalen Jackson, Cassadine Blassingame,CurtlandGriffn, Ellyssia Hester, all of Toccoa, GA, Keith (Tabitha) Livingston, of Farmville,VA,Charles (Maria) Oliphant, Springtown, TX, Jabez Oliphant, Houston, TX; six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
